Before Your Airbrush Tan: How to Prep

1. Exfoliate for a Smooth Canvas
Gently exfoliate your skin prior to your airbrush tanning session to remove dead skin cells from the surface. This step helps the tanning solution apply more evenly and last longer by preventing premature flaking.

2. Shaving & Waxing Guidelines

  • Shave at least 8 hours before your appointment.

  • If you wax, please do so at least 24 hours in advance.

  • Recently had a chemical peel or using prescription skin products? Let us know beforehand to ensure your skin is ready.

3. Hydrate Your Skin the Night Before
Dry skin can lead to patchy or uneven results. The night before your appointment, generously apply moisturizer. A good trick? Slather on lotion without rubbing it all the way in, slip into comfy sweats, and relax. Your skin will thank you!

4. Arrive with Clean, Product-Free Skin
On the day of your session, come with bare skin—no sweat, oil, makeup, deodorant, perfume, or lotion. These products can act as barriers and prevent the tanning solution from fully absorbing. We do recommend applying a little lip balm or Vaseline to protect your lips.

5. Dress for Success
Wear dark, loose-fitting clothing to your session. The cosmetic bronzer may transfer, but it typically washes out of most fabrics—avoid wearing leather, nylon, or silk just to be safe.

After Your Airbrush Tan: Care Tips for a Longer-Lasting Glow

1. First Rinse
Wait 8–10 hours before rinsing off the tanning solution. Use water only—no soap during this first shower.

2. Moisturize Daily
Keep your skin hydrated with a fragrance-free, oil-free moisturizer or tan extender cream, starting the morning and evening after your first rinse. Avoid moisturizers with oils, AHA, or exfoliating properties. Favorites like Hempz or Cetaphil work great.

3. Avoid Harsh Products
Stay away from skincare products containing salicylic acid, often found in facial cleansers, until you're ready for your tan to fade.

4. Be Gentle with Your Skin
Avoid long hot showers, baths, or heavy scrubbing. After bathing, pat dry instead of rubbing.

5. Minimize Chlorine Exposure
Chlorine from pools and hot tubs can significantly reduce the lifespan of your tan. Use with caution!

6. Protect Your Tan During Workouts
Before exercising or heavy sweating, lightly dust baby powder on your skin to absorb moisture and protect your tan from premature fading.
